Discover the Loire Valley
From our charming hotel in Sully-sur-Loire
Discover our hotel’s amazing location and enjoy sweet escapes in the Loire Valley. The gateway to this UNESCO World Heritage Site, Sully-sur-Loire is a major stop on the Loire châteaux route. Twenty-two of these châteaux are classed as “Grands Sites du Val de Loire” (Grand Sites of the Loire Valley), including Sully (the only one in the Loiret department), Chenonceau, Chambord, Azay-le-Rideau, Amboise and Blois, as well as Saumur, Nantes, Angers and L’Abbaye de Fontevraud.
The Loire Valley was inducted as a World Heritage Site in 2000 for its outstanding cultural landscape across 280 km, from Sully-sur-Loire (where our hotel is located) to Chalonnes. Discover it on the water, on foot or by bike at the heart of a preserved natural environment. Dreamlike parks and gardens, rolling green landscape, swamps and marshland, forests like those in the Sologne, vineyards and caves once inhabited by humans hidden among the rocks all provide an outstanding and unique place for exploration. Whether you’re interested in wine, food or just getting some fresh air and quiet, there’s something for everyone in the Loire Valley.
To best explore it and its varied landscapes, its châteaux, its quaint villages and its fertile countryside, nothing could be better than the bike, with 900 km of country lanes alternating between cycle routes and less-frequented routes crossing the Loire Valley. The section between Briare and Châteauneuf-sur-Loire goes through the communities of Gien, Sully-sur-Loire and Saint-Père-sur-Loire. These cycle paths are a real blessing for natural discovery that can be done at your rhythm and without any problems as a family.
